E. Ken Tokutomi, CPASenior PartnerEducation Born in Auburn, Ken lived in Newcastle as a youth. He graduated from Placer High School and Sierra College. Mr. Tokutomi earned his B.S. in Accounting at California State University, Sacramento and completed his Masters in Taxation at Golden Gate University. In 1984, Ken founded Certified Public Accounting firm Mancebo & Tokutomi which later became Tokutomi & Caruthers, CPA’s. With a Masters in Taxation, Ken has the knowledge and experience to handle many of the complex tax issues facing today’s taxpayer. He will represent you in IRS audit situations, develop tax strategies to help ease the tax impact of successful individual and business endeavors. Ken works with both small and large tax clients to face the ever changing income tax environment. Public Service Currently Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board of Auburn. Ken has been a member of that board for over 15 years. He was awarded the Vernon McCann Award “Mr. Auburn” by the Auburn Journal for outstanding community service in 1997. Ken has been an elected board member since 2002 and past president of the Placer County Office of Education. He is past president and current treasurer of the Placer County Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). In 2011 Ken was honored to be selected as one of 18 Extraordinary Asian Pacific Americans in the U.S. As chairman of the JACL fundraising committee, Ken is spearheading the effort to build a bronze statue titled “Battle of the Lost Battalion” at the Bill Santucci Justice Center. This monument will commemorate World War II service by Americans of Japanese Ancestry. Ken served as one of five members of the steering committee that passed "Measure W", a $41 million School Bond for Placer Joint Union High School District in 1999. A former elected board member of the Newcastle Sanitary District, Ken also graduated from Leadership Auburn and the Sierra Business Council leadership programs. Ken is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Viet Nam era. |
F. Burton Caruthers, CPAPartnerEducation A CPA for 33 years, Burt attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting. He has been a partner in the firm since 1991. Burt has extensive experience in business, taxation, and accounting principles. His audit experience includes government subsidized housing and non-profit organizations. Continuing to update his skills, Burt has completed advanced courses include Government Auditing Standards, Governmental Accounting, HUD Audit Guide, and Grant Management. Public Service Burt has a strong connection to his community. He supports the Auburn Symphony and serves on the Board of Directors of Christian Team Ministries.
